A Bit About Nick
Nick is a highly experienced professional drummer and educator with over 35 years of playing experience and more than 15 years of teaching students of all ages and abilities. His passion for music, combined with decades of professional performance and specialist training, enables him to deliver engaging, inspiring and personalised drum lessons for every student.
Nick began playing the drums at the age of 11, taking lessons at school with renowned teachers Christine Barron and Mike Tustin. It was here that his passion for drumming began, and he quickly realised that music was the career he wanted to pursue.
While still at school, Nick joined his first band and performed throughout the Coventry area before continuing his studies with Victor Guillamon in Leamington Spa. As he developed as a musician, he regularly performed with original bands, gaining valuable live experience while striving to build a professional career in the music industry.
Committed to reaching the highest professional standard, Nick continued his training at Drumtech, West London, studying with director Francis Seriau and respected session drummer Paul Elliot. These intensive studies helped refine his technique, musicianship and versatility, preparing him for the demands of a successful career as a professional drummer.
Over the following 26 years, Nick toured extensively throughout the UK, recorded with numerous bands, secured record deals and built an impressive career performing across a wide range of musical styles.
Alongside performing, Nick began teaching professionally in 2008. Since then he teaches hundreds of students through private tuition as well as at a number of respected independent schools, including King's High School, Warwick Preparatory School and The Kingsley School, where he has taught for the past nine years.
Believing that learning never stops, Nick has continued to study with some of the UK's leading drummers throughout his career, including acclaimed session drummer Donovan Hepburn (Take That, Gary Barlow, Electric Light Orchestra, Cheryl Cole and Alesha Dixon) and Andy Leask, one of the UK's leading specialists in the renowned Moeller Hand Technique.
Today, Nick teaches at several schools across Coventry and Warwickshire alongside private tuition at Leamington Voice Studio. He continues to perform professionally, regularly appearing in sold-out concerts, cathedrals, theatres and venues across the country, and has been a drummer for numerous musical theatre productions over the past 12 years.
Whether you're picking up drumsticks for the very first time, preparing for graded exams, or looking to develop advanced performance skills, Nick's wealth of experience, patient teaching style and passion for music provide the ideal environment to help you achieve your goals.
